A Trip to Bellingham

Recently I was given the opportunity to travel to Bellingham, WA to hang out and ride with my friends at Transition Bikes. This trip came to me as part of a “care package” from Kevin Menard at Transition Bikes. I had just lost my wife Susan and they felt that I needed a break from things. What an incredible gesture!

When I received this gift I was in shock. I had already started to plan a trip out there to get away. Now, I had no excuses not to travel back to Bellingham!

One of my goals for this trip was to leave some of Susan’s ashes at one of the amazing views found in the area. The guys understood this and would wind up taking me on a long difficult climb way up to an awesome view of Bellingham Bay. Ironically, this ride was symbolic of Susan’s life. This was an emotional ride for me, especially once we reached our destination.

I could go on and on about the good times I had with everyone at Transition Bikes but I’ll leave you with this gallery of photos from my trip. Thank you Kevin, Kyle, Scooch, Blake, Cam, Sam, Carl, Lars, Adrian, Josh, Dave, Darrin and Dale for everything!

I enjoyed a bonus visit during my trip. Our friend Tara drove up from Seattle to have lunch with me. It was great to see her, catch up and talk about Susan. We hadn’t seen each other in years.

This trip was great and just the distraction that I needed. We rode some amazing trails and had a great time joking and hanging out! I can’t thank all of my friends at Transition enough for their warmth, empathy and efforts to make sure I had a good time. It was difficult saying goodbye to everyone the night before my flight home.
Until next time!
