Wissahickon Valley Park<\/a> in Philadelphia is one of those places that you can love and hate at the same time. I’m sorry, “hate” is a strong word…I should say loathe. This trail system runs along the Wissahickon Creek in Philly and is within city limits!<\/p>\n

If you have ever visited “The Wiss” for a ride you know that it has some punishing climbs, that’s where the loathing comes in. If you ride a “full loop”, about 19 miles, you are going to get in a little more than 3000ft of climbing. It’s not all smooth packed tapered climbs, its loose rock or big rock steps with steep bits. I love planning a trip to ride at the Wiss knowing I’m going to get my butt kicked on some climbs but also get some good descents at the same time.<\/p>\n

I recently planned a trip to The Wiss to ride with my buddy Zach Shearon with the goal to clear my head and get some fun descending in. I knew he would take me on a ride that would allow us to hit some of the better spots. We’d wind up doing an hour and half ride with few interruptions for other trail users.<\/p>\n
